AD // LOOK BEYOND CUTE 👀 I'm so pleased to be part of the #BuyaPuppySafely campaign again this year as it's a subject most of you know is close to my heart. It can be hard to do, but the Scottish Government are asking people in the market for a new pup to #LookBeyondCute and if something doesn't feel right to walk away. It can be easy to feel the need to rescue the puppy (like we did with Stan) but by buying the dog we're actually just continuing the cycle of supply and demand whilst lining these people's pockets and who knows what kind of conditions these puppies are being born into 😢 The @buyapuppysafely campaign is here to help with lots of tips on what to look for - the main ones being that the puppy should always be seen with the mum and the mum should be interacting with the puppies & also to ask for the paperwork which details vaccinations and chipping etc. If you do go to see a puppy and have concerns, you should report it through the Scottish SPCA website (all info and links are available through the @buyapuppysafely website). I'm sure some people are looking for family pets at this time of year, so be sure to share the message with friends and family so we can stop illegal puppy farming once and for all. I had an incredible meal last night at @divinoenotecaedinburgh by Michelin starred @leandroluppi of @vecchiamalcesine to celebrate World Week of Italian Cuisine hosted by the Italian Consulate. A showcase of the food and drink from the Veneto region, it was a lovely, informative and delicious evening meeting new people (including @glasgow_gourmet 👋) Italian week is running until 24 November and Divino Enoteca are hosting another event tonight - tickets are still available and you can find out more on the food news section of my website 🖥️ The dishes we sampled were "fake tomato" - a rainbow trout tartare, a carbonara unlike any I've ever tried before with a luxurious egg sauce and pasta made with the water of the Dolomites, beef braised in amarone (a wine the region is famed for), a salad with salted caramel (!) and a panettone parfait made with a panettone from one of the region's premium panettone producers. It was an incredible evening and I learnt so much about this quietly reserved part of Italy which is making a name for itself in the food scene. I'd recommend trying to go along tonight if you can.
