death row dinner date 💀 lawleys bakery

So, by now, I hope you’re au fait my new weekly series in which I hope to introduce you to fellow foodies, bloggers and pals. If you missed mine, you can read it here.

First up to the (execution) hot seat is the lovely Laura of Lawley’s Bakery. You might remember her from this post where she made me into a cake convert.

W H O

A 27 year old ‘mature’ student who bakes part time to fund an expensive but enjoyable breakfast habit. She loves eating, cats and pushing her luck.

W H Y

For exposing her boyfriend to cheese and peanut butter sandwiches who has reported her for eating feet, which is cannibalism.

“I genuinely felt panicked about these questions. It is a huge toss up between American pancakes, bacon and maple syrup OR a Billies guacamole, salsa and sour cream hash. NO. No, you know, I would go Spanish. I would have churos with chocolate sauce. Not the crap English stuff, I want the ones I had in Madrid. They were longer than my forearm and there were at least four and I was SO HAPPY. I said it, I don’t regret it.”

“Lunch is the one meal of the day I’m crap at having. If you asked me where I wanted to go I would really struggle and just pick a full blown dinner. It’s the size, small meals aren’t my forte . I think I’d ask for Cafe Coho to bring me their smashed avocado with smoked salmon and eggs. I love breakfast food so much and I would eat it for every meal ever if I could and Coho make possibly the best and biggest avocado smash in town.”

“NACHOS. Black lion nachos. I love those bastards. Oh god I love them. I think by this point in the day I might have vomitted? I’ll pretend we are living in a world where I can eat and not feel violently sick”

“My main feels like a no brainer. I used to live in Haywards Heath and they have a curry place called The Balti House and the curry is out of this world. I am yet to find somewhere to compete and in brighton (possibly Bindis on Lewes road). I love curry, it is my spirit food!! I would have a palak with all the sides!! Bombay potatoes, onion bhajis, peshwai naan and popadons… OH and that amazing sweet and sour chutney they do. I am so hungry now?!”

“This might be the most difficult… I’m obviously tempted to say cake… if it was then I would make a vanilla sponge with jam and really vanilla buttercream ALL over. If I was go my proper dessert… god… I don’t know… cheesecake?! Something with custard?! APPLE CRUMBLE? Can I have a trio?!? I think I’d cry over the dessert conundrum, not death! I feel distressed deciding… FYI, I’ve spent five minutes sitting and thinking here hahah. Ok. Yeah, im going for the quadruple layer jam and vanilla cake with a white chocolate ganache 😍”

‘I’m still a bit hungry’ or ‘I shouldn’t have eaten that’

Eating feet is not acceptable but can we execute someone so fanatical about food? Lifelong probation granted on the condition that she never stops baking her amazing cakes.
