The best sandwich shop in Hove (and Brighton)
Tom’s, on Palmeira Square, is my favourite sandwich shop of all time.
Let me tell you why: superb staff, generous fillings, fresh ingredients, an original specials board, sandwich suggestions which are not just the same as every other sandwich shop AND, as if all that wasn’t enough, extra thick white bread for no extra cost (if you can get there early enough.)
This has been my Friday treat for longer than I would care to admit and I order an off-menu sandwich so I can’t tell you what’s in it or I would have to kill you. Let me just tell you that it’s delicious.
They are a tad more expensive than an average but they are totally, totally worth it. Along the Western / Church Road stretch, we have an abundance of sandwich shops: Fine Eat, Patisserie Valerie, Real Patisserie, to name but a few and this is by far the best. They also stock good quality crisps, often have homemade sausage rolls and posh cans of juice. It’s unassuming from the outside and doesn’t have any gimmicks inside – it’s a simple sandwich shop run by a man called Tom who loves good food!
Don’t just take my word for it, go and try yourself – they are only open Monday – Friday until 4pm so don’t miss out!
