Dinner at the Bath Arms, South Laines
I started my meal with mac n cheese – which is actually a side but they were very accommodating when asked for this as a starter.
It was lightly sauced, not too rich or too heavy and laced with dijon mustard. For my personal taste, it was a little too heavy on the mustard but for mustard lovers it’s apparently heavenly.
For my main, I decided on the burger and chips which was…underwhelming. Disappointing that the chips were from a freezer, the burger was dry and I had to leave some of it as I got tired of trying to chomp through it. Their slaw was mayo free and didn’t really taste of anything.
I am really torn on this one – I was recommended this by a (very reliable) friend who said they’ve had some really good meals there but I just don’t think I would return. Could be so good but they fell short of the bar. “Pub grub” in Brighton is no longer acceptable from a cash and carry and they will need to up their game to be in the same level as the other pubs in Brighton & Hove.
