ROAST REVIEW
This is what Sundays are made for 🙌🏼
Tucked away off Blatchington Road on Stirling Place, the Foragers pub is something of a if you know about it, you know about it kind of place.
We attended in a very large group, had a short-reasonable waiting time for our food which all came out at the same time (I think there were about 11 of us) and it was all piping hot.
I went for my favourite – slow roast belly of pork. Succulent, well cooked pork stuffed with apple, a generous portion of roast potatoes, sweet potato purée, cabbage, red cabbage, honey glazed carrots and parsnips AND cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding and a healthy drowning of gravy and topped with crackling that was 💯 (I only wish I’d been given a bit more of it!)
I would rate this 8.5 out of 10 (this is the top score I’ve ever given anywhere) as the potatoes could have been slightly fluffier and the Yorkshire pudding was filled with air when I want a bit of yorkie sogginess. But that said, at £12.00 it very reasonable for the quality and size plus the staff are very friendly and attentive. I was very hungover and I ruined myself by eating this whole plate but it was worth every mouthful.
At the time of posting this to the blog, I have since been out for several more roasts and none of them have measured up to the Foragers and all of them have been more expensive. I would therefore increase my rating to 9/10. I am yet to find something better, but I will keep you posted!
I could eat this any day of the week 👏🏼 just need to sort the yorkies out and we’re onto a winner 👌🏼
