Dinner at rootcandi, Brighton
Being a long standing fan of Iydea, we tried their sister restaurant which is the brain child of the owner of Iydea and his business partner. They claim to be the only vegetarian tapas restaurant in the UK, I’ve not verified this so will take them at their word, however, I am sure this is now not the case as it’s a great idea and I am sure everyone has cottoned on to this!
We chose the pan Asian set and the European set to share between four of us. We were divided on the meal, the pan Asian was ok, tasty but only ok and the European was good with some excellent elements. The menu has changed since I went and my favourite dish, tempura romanesco with curried mayonnaise, has since been taken off the menu.
Have to give them props for rotating the menu though and switching it up a bit, since writing this post originally on Instagram, the menu has expanded as has the restaurant which now occupies the ground floor which was Iydea.
The service was ok, I felt like they were still trying to find their groove but this was tested just after they opened and as the place is always packed when you pass, I can only assume that this has since improved
Summary: good for the experience but slightly lacking at the time we visited. I would like to revisit now they’ve been open for a while.
Note: their cocktails were banging 🍸Have you been? Do you recommend different dishes? 💛 #theweefoodblogger
