Takeaway Review from Cafe Chilli, on Church Road, Hove
I was a massive fan of the recently closed Vanilla Pod on Western Road (if they re-open they serve up the best gourmet brekkie in Brighton & Hove and their eggs benedict was 👌🏼 RIP Vanilla Pod – update: four months later I am still mourning the loss of Vanilla Pod) and I deduced from their Facebook that they are linked to Cafe Chilli so this was number one choice for takeaway.
We had ‘Heavenly Seabass’ 😇🐟 and heavenly it was, two large seabass fillets cooked beautifully and served with the sauce separately to stop the Seabass from going soggy, it came with a really mild but flavoursome coconut and lemongrass sauce and fresh vegetables
Next up were spicy prawn noodles, these pack a punch so if you’re not good with spice they might be a bit too much, the prawns were big and fresh 🍤
‘Golden mountain pork’, which I love the name of, was our next selection which was really tasty and tender pieces of pork in a tangy red sauce – I can imagine this would be perfect if you ate in their restaurant as the cracking (only one small piece) was a bit soggy by the time it got to us.
And finally crispy chilli squid that was evidently good quality and cooked perfectly, as always the case with takeaway squid, eat it as soon as you get it to make the most of it.
All in all we were really pleased with our choice and kept talking for a good hour after about how we just wished we’d ordered more! (My dining friend also suffers from #fearofhunger!)
We just need to try all the rest of their menu now…! Have you been? What else do you recommend? 💛 #theweefoodblogger
