Breakfast at La Fourchette
Having walked past their breakfast board about a thousand times, I finally got round to trying their breakfast and it was pretty decent. Good quality, fresh ingredients and a massive pot of brown sauce to accompany it which is always a winner in my book. It was accompanied by sour dough toast which is out of shot.
A gourmet sausage, mushrooms, bacon, tomato, scrambled egg and beans. I would give it a respectable 7.5/10 – the tomato was smothered in some herbs which covered up the fact that it was a cheap tomato that had no flavour of its own and I think the scrambled eggs were done in an excessive amount of olive oil, but apart from that it was decent.
This was just £7.50 which is very respectable for Brighton & Hove now. However, they did add 10% on for service which I do NOT agree with; it’s breakfast and we’re not in America, pal.
I do, however, really want to go back for dinner. I had a meal at the La Fourchette on Western Road some years back and it’s still one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten.
